This course is tailored for a primary care audience and is intended to provide practical, up-to-date information on commonly encountered cardiovascular diseases. World-class faculty from the University of Washington School of Medicine will teach participants using case-based lectures and an audience response system to encourage interactive dialogue. Recent guidelines for hypertension, cholesterol management, and diabetes will be reviewed. Everyday primary care topics including diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease and supraventricular arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, will be covered. Practical issues regarding use of new anticoagulants will be discussed. Appropriateness of cardiac testing will be discussed during lectures on the cardiovascular physical exam and the evaluation of chest pain with stress testing.

This conference will provide an overview of travel medicine and global health and is targeted to non-specialist physicians and other health professionals with an interest in travel medicine and global health. Travel medicine topics will include immunizations, malaria prophylaxis, travelers’ diarrhea and other topics salient to caring for those who travel to low-income nations. Global health topics will include medical professionals volunteering overseas and working in complex humanitarian emergencies. Information will be presented via plenary lectures and smaller audience break-out workshops. Attendees will have ample opportunities to follow presentations with questions.

The purpose of the course is to update the skills of inpatient providers with a focus on common problems in clinical care. The format consists of brief, directed presentations followed with the opportunity to ask questions. This format guarantees question-and-answer interaction time between faculty and attendees.

Emergency Radiology 2020 will provide comprehensive presentations and interactive discussions covering the broad range of emergency imaging, including epidemiology and mechanisms of trauma, clinicians' expectations of imaging and an integrated imaging approach to injuries of the head, neck, spine, torso, pelvis and appendicular skeleton.
August 14-16, 2020
This course is designed to provide basic training for the rheumatologist in performing vascular ultrasound for the diagnosis of large vessel vasculitis. Hands-on training will be a significant component of this activity, partnered with expert faculty in the field, who will discuss and demonstrate how to identify the basic vascular pathological findings. Intermediate to advanced skill in the performance of ultrasound is strongly recommended as a prerequisite to this course.

An internationally acclaimed faculty has been assembled to provide this update, with presentations on topics such as prostate screening and treatment, testosterone deficiency and the controversy of testosterone replacement, male urinary dysfunction, kidney and bladder pathology, sexual dysfunction, male infertility and the changing influence of marijuana and genital pain syndromes. During the plenary sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in case discussions and question-and-answer sessions.

This is the 48th year that the Department of Family Medicine is offering five days of educational opportunities for family medicine and primary care health care providers. Our goal is to provide current information about practice skills and the diagnosis and management of a broad array of primary health care issues.
October 3-7, 2020
This five-day program will cover data supporting guidelines, recommendations and recent advances regarding therapeutic options for patients with solid tumors and hematologic disorders. At the end of the course, physicians will leave with a comprehensive syllabus, a self-assessment and a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis, diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic modalities available for a breadth of solid tumors as well as hematologic disorders. There will be a case-based review session and discussions. The course is designed to help prepare you for certifying and re-certifying exams as applicable.

As primary care providers we are constantly encountering a dizzying array of medication options and patient questions regarding advertised medications. We are responsible for managing complex medication regimens including treatments we may not be intimately familiar with. In addition, safety concerns and new indications for old medications arise regularly. In order to help primary care providers keep up-to-date on these issues we have organized this course on Drug Therapy. Through the use of a case-based format, the speakers will highlight innovations in drug therapies, review new indications for old medications and discuss medication side effects or drug interactions. Individual presentations will be followed by panel discussions during which participants will be able to ask questions.
