Jason Hsu, M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. His expertise lies in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic and open procedures for shoulder instability, primary and revision shoulder replacement surgery, and complex arthrosopic and open reconstructive procedures for previous failed shoulder surgery. He also performs both arthroscopic and open surgery for painful elbow conditions.
Dr. Hsu received his undergraduate and medical degree as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania. During his residency, he spent one year in the the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory focusing on research involving rotoator cuff repair and healing. He completed specialized training in arthroscopic and open shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis.
His research interests include work on clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction after rotator cuff surgery and shoulder replacement surgery. He also has had significant involvement in basic science research of rotator cuff healing. He has been published in multiple peer reviewed periodicals including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Arthroscopy, Journal of Orthopaedic Research, and Journal of Biomechanics.
