Kiran Bambha, MD

Kiran Bambha, MD

Kiran M. Bambha, M.D., MSc., is a board-certified transplant hepatologist. Dr. Bambha treats patients with liver disease, portal hypertensive complications or needing liver transplantation. She is an associate professor of medicine at UW, medical director of the UW Live Donor Liver Transplant Program and director of the Liver Clinical Trials Unit. 

Dr. Bambha earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed training in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, and advanced training in clinical research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; and transplant hepatology fellowship at University of California San Francisco. 

The focus of her research is investigation of factors impacting the organ allocation process and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease allocation system for patients. Other research interests include interventions targeting molecular pathways of inflammation and fibrogenesis in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis pathogenesis.
