Dr. Bakthavatsalam is a UW associate professor of surgery and urology. His interests are abdominal organ transplantation (liver, kidney and pancreas) including living donation and complex retroperitoneal and uro-oncologic surgery and surgery for portal hypertension. He earned his M.D. at Madras Medical College in India and completed a residency there before embarking on a series of surgical fellowships in London and Ireland. He also completed the transplant fellowship here at the UW from 1999 to 2001.
