Patient Care Philosophy
I believe that medicine is best practiced as a team. The most important member of the team is the patient. My first priority is listening to patients and their loved ones to better understand their hopes and needs. After gaining this perspective, I work with them and the entire hospital staff to provide the best, evidence–based care options for each patient.
Personal Interests
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Mandell enjoys spending time with his wife and sons, cooking, hiking, sailing, and photography.
Clinical Interests
Emergency and general surgery; care of burned patients; management of critically injured patients; care of the critically ill.
Research Interests
Motor vehicle crash outcomes; burn resuscitation; long-term outcomes in burn survivors; clinical outcomes in the intensive care unit.
