Guidance for Pregnancy: Flu and Measles Vaccines
It's still flu season, and Washington state is also now facing a measles outbreak.
Kristina Adams Waldorf, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, says pregnant people should be wary: They're a high-risk group who can become sick and die from influenza. If they are infected with measles while pregnant, it can lead to preterm birth and other complications.
In the video below, Adams Waldorf explains when pregnant people should get their immunizations, if they haven't already, and why everyone around them should do so, too.
